Values

This is not a checklist, but more like a FYI. Please read about some of my personal values that shape who I am as a designer and what I am looking for in a team or company I work for:
The company/team I work with will have a dedication to failure. For the freedom to fail is the essence of creativity. If you are afraid of change, risk or trying something new, then I probably would not fit in your organization. However, if you’re willing to sacrifice the “old way” of doing things and are open to “out of the box” thinking, then I will be an asset to your team.
A company without vision is a company that is going out of business. With the speed at which technology changes, I expect to see engaged leadership giving direction and casting vision for where we should be going long term. Training and development in staying with current trends and technology is important to me too
Clear communication is important for the smooth running of any business. I don’t expect us all to be Tony Robbins (public speaker), but I would hope that we would be able to set clear expectations and have processes in place to get the word out when needed. If your idea of communication is solely printed memo’s or hiding in your office all day then I probably will not fit in your team. I value all forms of communication, including Facebook, Twitter, Instant Messaging, Email, Memo’s and Sign Language. Please use these.
Organization includes clear file management, accessible passwords, planning and creating strategy. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. If you ask me to develop a website for you, please be kind enough to invest in some planning meetings to discuss the purpose and overall goal of the site. I realize some are more organized than others, but lists and bullet points help me to gauge my expectations. Organization also includes knowing the chain of command. Please have clear roles and let me know who my “go to” person is.
I am an innovator. Along with my design abilities, I come along with ideas, thoughts and new ways of doing things. The company I work for would allow me to share my ideas when applicable and give me feedback. I’m warning you right now, I have at least 7-10 new ideas a day. If you are looking for someone to sit down, shut up and do as they are told, then I’m not your guy. If you are looking for contribution, cooperation and new ideas then please sign me up!
